The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer aspirant, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has assured delegates of his party in the North East Region that he will revive the defunct NDC Heroes Fund to serve the purpose for which it was established.

The former governor of the Bank of Ghana assured Bunkpurungu and Yunyoo constituencies in the North East Region.

The Heroes Fund was set up in June 2011 under the late President John Evans Atta Mills. It was set up to assist NDC supporters who encounter misfortunes, incapacitation, or other forms of deprivation in their service to the NDC party.

However, during his tour of the North East Region, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor emphasized the need to support the grassroots of the party in any form.

He, therefore, pledged to revive the Heroes Fund when given the opportunity to lead the NDC on May 13th. According to him, this is the only way to reward the grassroots.

Dr. Duffuor further said the payment of dues by the party faithful can’t make the party economically viable hence the need to adopt best practices to change the fortunes of the party.

Dr. Duffuor and his team also paid a courtesy call on the overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional area, Naa Bohagu. Mahami Abdulai Sheriga. The overlord blessed his team and called for peace ahead of the NDC presidential primaries.

The tour afforded the presidential aspirant the opportunity to interact with delegates in the Chereponi, Bunkpurugu and Yunyoo constituencies of the party.
