Cecilia Abena Dapaah is the Sanitation Minister

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has resigned.

The move comes after it was reported on Friday, July 21 that two house helps of the Minister had been hauled before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing an amount of $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis at her residence in Abelenkpe, Accra, in October 2022.

The news has generated uproar among a large section of the public who called on the Minister to resign, while the State’s investigative bodies probe the issue.

The Minister had earlier in a letter dated 21st July 2023 stated that she will deal with publications that she owns one million dollars and three hundred thousand euros which have been stolen from her house.

“There are noticeable inconsistencies between what is being discussed in the public domain and the thrust of the original complaint on the matter,” she explained.
