Security analyst, Adam Bona says the Police Commissioner in a leaked audio planning the sack of the Inspector General of Police “doesn’t deserve to be in the service not a day beyond today.”

A Police Commissioner who describes himself as Mensa in a leaked audio recording with a politician to oust the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare from office.

The Police Commissioner who is said to be retiring was in a conversation with a politician who describes himself as a former Northern regional chair of the NPP on plotting the removal of the IGP over fears he will be too firm in the 2024 elections.

He further notes that the nature of security the IGP provided during the Assin North by-election shows he will not allow any rigging in the polls.

Commenting on the development on Morning Starr with Francis Abban, the security analyst indicated that there were attempts to remove the IGP but President Akufo-Addo turned it down. 

“It’s a shame to have top police officials attempting to unseat one of their own in this despicable manner. And virtually indicting an institution that is supposed to help the referee to protect the sanctity of our democracy and our electoral process.

“So for me we will want to call it a day of shame. Listening to portions of the audio and for me I will say that these top police officials don’t deserve to be in the service not a day beyond today. The simple reason is that as you heard the Alhaji they were engaging asked a lot of questions that ordinarily some of us might even be asking,” Mr. Bonaa stated.

He continued: “They (Commissioners) seem to convince the Alhaji that they ought to have had an audience with the President because the IGP will have to be changed so that certain CoP Mansa will be IGP to help break the 8.”
