The National Labour Commission (NLC) has summoned the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) and other parties over the nationwide strike action by the teachers.

In a letter to parties involved in the dispute, the Executive Secretary of the NLC, Ofosu Asamoah stated that with the invention of the NLC, the Union is advised to appear before the Commission to deal with matter.

“The National Labour Commission in exercise of its powers under section 139 of the Labour Act, (2003), Act 651, writes to summon the parties to appear before the Commission on Wednesday, 2nd August, 2023 at 11:00 am for a hearing of the issues in dispute,” Mr. Asamoah stated.

CETAG has withdrawn teaching and other related service effective Tuesday August 1st 2023 in all the 46 public Colleges of Education.

The Association explained that their action follows failure by the employer to comply with the Arbitral Award Orders issued by the National Labour Commission (NLC) on 2nd May 2023.
