The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed regret over the withdrawal by Alan Kyerematen from the upcoming flag bearer contest of the party.

Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party, Alan Kyerematen, has withdrawn from the race.

His decision was communicated in a statement dated and issued on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Expressing his worry over the developments that have characterized the NPP’s internal elections, he said “how did we get here as a party in the first place, and how far we are prepared to thread on this dangerous path to self-destruction?”

However, the party says the Election Committee and the Disciplinary Committee have initiated comprehensive investigations into all reported incidents and will hold wrongdoers accountable.

“We note with regret Hon. Kyerematen’s decision to withdraw from the upcoming Presidential Primaries,” the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong disclosed in a letter to Mr. Alan Kyerematen.
