The Eastern Regional Chairman of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Jeff Konadu has called on party members to prioritize unity and focus on winning the upcoming 2024 general elections to realize the ‘breaking the 8’ mantra in Ghana.

In a recent interview on Wontumi Radio, Chairman Konadu emphasized the importance of party cohesion and praised the accomplishments of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo-Dampare, regardless of his political affiliation.

He urged NPP members to set aside political differences of issues surrounding the IGP’s leaked tape, and rally behind the common goal of securing victory in the 2024 general elections.

He stated, “Let’s focus on building our party unity in winning the 2024 general elections, and that’s the most important”. He underscored the party’s commitment to presenting a united front to voters and ensuring a successful electoral outcome.

Mr Konadu encouraged party members to support IGP Dampare Akufo in carrying out his duties impartially. He remarked, “Let’s shun whether the IGP, Dampare Akufo, is NDC or whatever to do his work. I think his tenure as the IGP, he has done his part”.

He also highlighted the significant achievements made in bolstering law enforcement and security in the country. He praised the efforts of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in providing essential resources to the police force. “Our NPP has been able to resource the Police, and it’s pleasing to the eyes when you pass by the CID Headquarters,” he stated.

The Eastern Region Chairman specifically commended the substantial investments made by the government in the police force, including the provision of motorbikes, the construction of essential infrastructure, and the deployment of necessary security apparatus.

He pointed out that the recent acquisition of two helicopters by the Police Service was an unprecedented milestone in enhancing law enforcement capabilities.

Mr Konadu also highlighted the positive impact of these investments on the Eastern Region. He noted that prior to IGP Dampare Akufo’s tenure, armed robbery incidents in areas like Afram Plains were on the rise, affecting market women who often fell victim to ambushes and theft.

However, he affirmed, “Since IGP came, all these activities have stopped. He also highlighted the improved security conditions and the effectiveness of the police force under the IGP’s leadership
