The Africa Development Council (ADC) has stated that attacks on science related endeavors in the country are condemnable.

This comes on the back of attacks on the National Science and Maths Quiz mistress, Ing. Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufman over her comments during an interview on Starr FM on the quiz program.

In a statement signed by the President of ADC, Ing. Dr. Bright Atsu Sogbey stated that the attacks on the quiz mistress had no basis.

“The said attack stemmed from the Quiz Mistress’ comment during a Radio interview on a Ghanaian based Radio station. A comment which sought to suggest that, for one to make it in Science, one has to be prepared far in advance.

“And that, not while others are preparing seriously for it, you are doing unrelated things, only to go and you cannot make it. Thus, “While other schools are singing and dancing, PRESEC-Legon is having quiz programs in their school”. The PRESEC in question, has been the winner of the National Science Quiz Competition, on several occasions, in Ghana,” Dr. Atsu Sogbey stated.

He continued: “Attempt by a group of people to overstretch her comment to mean disrespect for Arts endeavors, creating friction among the Scientific and Arts Community in Ghana, will not augur well for Industrial Development in that country, if not nipped in the bud.”
