Akatsi township was brought to life again on Saturday as the Chiefs and people of the Avenor Traditional area held a durbar to climax the 2023 Avenor Tutudoza.

The festival is an annual event celebrated by the people of the Avenor Traditional Area, located in both the Akatsi South Municipality and parts of the Akatsi North District.

The festival is used to mobilize support from natives of Avenor towards the development of the area and to also promote unity, local tourism and trade.

The 2023 durbar was nothing short of glamour -prepossessing culture and artistic displays.

The event which was on the theme: “Empowering the Youth of Avenor for Holistic Community Development and Transformation, was graced by flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama as the Special Guest of Honor and other prominent figures from across the country.

Speaking at the durbar, Mr. Mahama commended the Avenor Traditional Council for leading the charge for the development of the area and noted that “I am pleased that they share this same character of transformational leadership with the NDC.”

The former President further assured the people of the Akatsi South Municipality that the next NDC government under his watch will strive to complete all abandoned infrastructure projects in the Municipality.

He made mention of the Akatsi South District hospital project, the Akatsi through Kpodzivi to Ave-Dakpa road, the Akatsi-Dagbamatey road as projects the next NDC government will commit resources to.

Paramount Chief of the Avenor Traditional Area and President of the Avenor Traditional Council, Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, in his address, thanked the people for their support for his reign and used the occasion to highlight successes chalked over the years.

The overlord, also called on government and investors to consider investing agribusinesses development in the area to create sustainable livelihoods and jobs for his people, especially the youth.

As the year draws closer to an end, Togbe Dorglo also asked for God’s blessing for the Avenor land and asked that youth in the area continue to lead desirable lives.
