Ghana’s vibrant music scene has long been celebrated for its diverse genres and world-class talents. In a surprising twist that speaks to the eclectic taste of Ghanaian politicians, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has unveiled five of his top Ghanaian artists.

In an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat, the outspoken parliamentarian gave Ghanaians a glimpse into his music playlist, displaying a wide-ranging taste that spans various genres, from rap to dancehall and gospel. He named Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Perez Musik, and Diana Hamilton as his top five Ghanaian artists to appreciate the diversity within Ghana’s music industry.

In a time where political differences often dominate headlines, Hon Sam George’s musical choices serve as a reminder of the unifying power of music in transcending political boundaries and fostering a shared cultural experience.

Appreciating Sarkodie’s musical growth, he revealed that, in 2009, he gave Sarkodie his first live show in Cape Coast, “Sarkodie was a backup artist and Jayso, R2Bees and Skillions were the main acts”
