Fellow at CDD Ghana, Dr. Kwame Asiedu Sarpong, has discounted the popularity of Nana Kwame Bediako aka Chedder, insisting the 43 year old, cannot even win an election against maverick preacher Bishop Obinim.

In an interview with Millicent Safo-Adu on Bresosem on Abusua 96.5 FM, Dr. Sarpong argued that Nana Bediako has put himself up for presidency because persons in power have done a poor job, rendering governance cheap.

He also pointed out that the constitution required a President to be at least 40 years old and of sound mind, and that if the definition of “sound” were clearly defined, someone who poses with lions cannot qualify.

Nana Kwame Bediako, commonly known by many as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar unmasked himself as the face behind the New Force political movement promising a new vision and leadership that will bring about development and transformation to Ghana and the African continent.

His January 7 convention organized at the instance of the New Africa Foundation was halted abruptly after government revoked permit to the Independence square where a sizeable crowd had gathered to listen to Pan Africanists like P.L.O. Lumumba from Kenya, Peter Obi from Nigeria, Julius Malema from South Africa and Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao from Zimbabwe.

The government in a statement on why they revoked the permit given to New Africa Foundation to use the Black Star Square said “this decision has been necessitated by an unforeseen State event scheduled to take place at the venue. Under the circumstances that Ten thousand Ghana cedis paid by your office for the use of the venue will be refunded”.

In response to the statement regarding the revocation of the permit, Dr. Asiedu Sarpong described the statement as trash and full of lies.

“In fact, this government thinks the 32 million Ghanaians are all mad to deserve such a press release,” he stressed.

He questioned why a receipt of 10,000 cedis was issued while the organizers paid 30,000 cedis, and asked whether any other event actually took place on the day.
