A 21-year-old corn mill operator named Bright Larvie has been arrested by the Awutu Bereku District Police command for allegedly slashing the neck his own 3-week-old baby boy for money rituals at Fetteh Kakraba in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

Though they live in the same vicinity, the father and mother of the 3-week-old deceased baby live in different houses.

According to reports, the Development Chief for Gomoa Mamfam, Richard Egyir, who led the search team, on Monday 22nd January 2024 at around 11pm, the father of the child went to visit the mother and the baby, and he was surreptitiously accompanied by his friend.

When the father distracted the mother of the baby with a short discussion outside of her home, it is reported that his friend kidnapped the child. The mother came to find the baby’s room empty and raised the alarm formulating a search party to find him, leading to the arrest of both the father and his friend.

Upon investigation, the father confirmed that he had slashed the neck of his 3-week-old son in a nearby bush for money rituals.

After visiting the crime scene, the baby’s head had indeed been slashed, and the blood was allegedly collected attempting to send it away for the ritual.

Currently both mother and the father have been arrested.
