The Second Lady of Ghana, Samira Bawumia, has been involved in a severe road accident, resulting in one reported fatality.

Samira Bawumia is however in a stable condition.

She was returning from Ashanti Region when the crash occurred.

Meanwhile, eght (8) persons are seriously injured in a multiple-vehicle collision near Nobewam on Accra to Kumasi Highway.

The crash occurred on January 13, 2024.

According to the Konongo-Odumasi Fire Station, it responded to an emergency call reporting the collision involving a Toyota Land Cruiser (GC-9094-21), Toyota Land Cruiser (VR-2105-15), Mercedes Benz C180 (NR-1977-18), and a Benz Sprinter (GE-7256-14).

The crash, reported at 1:12pm resulted in eight victims sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

Quick-thinking members of the public had already rescued four victims and transported them to the hospital before the arrival of the rescue team led by STNO II Odjer Jonathan.

Preliminary investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash.

The Mercedes Benz Sprinter and Benz C180 suffered significant damage to their engine compartments and windshields, while the rear of the Toyota Land Cruiser (GC-9094-21) and Toyota Land Cruiser (VR- 2105-15) sustained partial damage.
