The Ghanaian who attempted to break the Guinness World Record (GWR), Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum says she was prepared for criticism from any quarters including Nigerians.

Speaking on GHOne TV with Lily Mohammed, madam Asantewaa stated that one of the challenges she had was fighting sleep.

“I remember I was fighting sleep and saying in my head that there shouldn’t be anything that will let me go off. I’ve seen some funny videos that I was really dozing-off and that was my fear. But I don’t think there was a point I said no.

“I had messages in my inbox that ‘madam stop you are not going to go anywhere, don’t even border yourself and it was coming from a lot of Ghanaians. Even the Nigerians themselves were not giving me that vibe. I had messages that ‘you better do hundred and fifty. You don’t have to let Nigerians laugh at us’,” she narrated.

According to her, some of the criticisms from people were really provoking and really annoying but she had psyched herself.

“I knew there was going to be a distraction if not from any country at all but from Nigeria, because we have this unusual debate and all that. So I just psyched myself that I am not going to give them the attention and just focus on my thing,” she added.
