The Accra Sports Stadium, slated to host the crucial Paris 2024 Olympic Games Qualifiers clash between Ghana’s Black Queens and Zambia’s Copper Queens, faces a significant hurdle as electricity remains disconnected.

The disconnection is due to an outstanding debt of 400,000 Ghana cedis owed to the Electricity Company of Ghana.

This setback has led to the closure of all toilet facilities within the stadium premises. To cope with the situation, the stadium has resorted to using generators as preparations continue for the upcoming match.

The power disconnection occurred on Monday evening while preparations were in full swing for the highly anticipated women’s football qualifier scheduled for Friday.

In this pivotal first leg of the last round of qualifiers, the Black Queens aim to secure a victory against Zambia’s Copper Queens, which would provide them with an advantage going into the return fixture in Zambia next week.
