In a remarkable feat at the African Games today, Ghana’s captain, Abeiku Jackson, won his second medal, winning the men’s 100m butterfly event at the newly built Borteyman Sports Complex.

The 23-year-old swimmer secured a bronze medal in the men’s 50m butterfly event with a time of 53.80 seconds, adding to the country’s four medals won over the weekend. Egypt’s Nasr Abdalla (53.29 seconds) and Eaton Jarden (53.45 seconds) defeated the Ghanaian to win gold and silver, respectively.

The race was postponed due to a false start on Monday evening, resulting in its completion on Tuesday morning.

Abeiku became the first Ghanaian swimmer to win a medal at the African Games, ending a national drought in the sport.
