The Minority in Parliament has described as a monumental disaster the just ended 13th African Games.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) have questioned the basis for challenges recorded by some members of the Ghanaian contingent despite the $240 million spent on the event.

President Akufo-Addo in a statement celebrated the success of the country’s contingent and organizers indicating their success had put to shame the naysayers.

But addressing the media in parliament minority spokesperson on Youth and Sports Komla Mensah Woyome stated the President’s description of critics as naysayers is worrying but unsurprising.

He accused the government of sidelining sports icons during the Games in favour of party apparatchiks.

The South Tongu MP consequently called for a bi-partisan Parliamentary probe into the budget and expenditure for the preparation and organization of the Games.

Mr. Woyome however praised the athletes who despite the challenges managed to gather the largest medal haul in the history of the country.
