If you’ve ever doubted the pledge to dredge and extend the sea to Kumasi, as proposed by Nana Kwame Bediako, leader of the New Force Movement, then you should know that he remains steadfast in his determination to realize this vision if elected as Ghana’s next President.

He has clarified that his plan to rather expand water transportation to Kumasi and not necessarily extend the sea to Kumasi.

According Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, the lake remains the most potential and strategic in building a nationwide inland water transport network.

‘I had Volta in mind when I talked about dredging the sea to Kumasi’, he explained.

He indicated that his goal is not to bring the sea to Kumasi but rather industrialize by expanding water transportation in the country.

‘Water transportation brings a new life to humanity because you are talking about finding a new path that no one have used,’ he said this while on “his listening” tour of Volta Region.

Following backlash and criticism over his policy of dredging to extend the to Ghana’s second most populous city, Kumasi, Cheddar seems to have his eyes set not only on the presidency but on water and is relentless in his assertion that indeed the natural resource is a gateway for the country’s development.

On his latest tour of the Volta Region, the presidential candidate indicated that he has his sights set on the Volta Lake, the world’s largest man-made lake and believes the marriage and merging of water bodies will be very pivotal in the industrialization of the country.

During his meeting with students and some youth at the Ho Technical University, he spoke about his intention to expand on the potential of the Volta Lake in developing water transport system.

This he believes will help in coastal transportation; an initiative that will bring about development.

Nana Kwame Bediako is a Ghanaian businessman and chairman of the Kwarleyz Group focused on real estate and property management. He was born in Askowa in the Ashanti Region.

He is reported to have ventured into business during his early days in university. Under the Kwarleyz Group, he runs entities including New Africa Construction and the New Africa Foundation. On January 7, 2024, he announced that he is the “man behind the mask” and subsequently declared his intention run for President after weeks of speculation.

He has since been travelling across the country and engaging the people and the media.

As elections approach, the political temperature keeps heating up. Will the New Force’s Nana Kwame Bediako be the dynamic change the country aspires to have?

While addressing local leaders and representatives from the Volta region he said, ‘I am committed to being the voice of the people, the bridge between communities and the catalyst for progress’.

Does his message and vision resonate with the people?
