Aside the International Day of the Right to Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights violations and the Dignity of Victims passed by the UN to pay tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to promoting and protecting human rights for all and those who have lost their lives in these efforts, the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance (ICPPED) is an international human rights instrument of the United Nations intended to prevent forced disappearance, which, as defined in international law, is part of crimes against humanity

The International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance is a human rights agreement that legally binds all nations to protect their citizens from enforced disappearances. The convention outlines the responsibilities of states and fundamental rights that should be accorded to the victims. Despite being adopted a decade ago, enforced disappearances remain a significant problem worldwide. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to address this issue effectively. For this reason, it is crucial to actively promote awareness of the protection of human rights, including celebrating occasions such as the International Day of the Right to Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and the Dignity of Victims.

On International Day for the Right to Truth Concerning Human Rights Violations, it is crucial to remember and honour those who have devoted their lives to promoting and safeguarding human rights.
