The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has advised Ghanaians to avoid traveling to the Gao and Ansongo regions of Northern Mali.

In a statement, the Ministry disclosed that the major highways linking Mali and Niger, particularly the Gao and Ansongo Regions of Northern regions of Mali have recorded terrorist harassment of commuters who ply the routes.

According to the Ministry, it “remains committed to the safety of Ghanaians and will provide updates on the security situation in the region under reference in due course.”

The Ministry further urged the Ghanaian public to always prioritize their safety when traveling.
