The Ministry of National Security says the suspect Benlord Ababio in the shooting that resulted in the death of a soldier is not a staff of the Ministry.
This comes on the back of a military officer in his late 30s who was shot dead in Millennium City during a land dispute, while two other officers narrowly escaped death.
The incident occurred near the Millennium City District Police Command at Kasoa in the Central region of Ghana.
However, the Ministry of National Security has debunked speculations the suspect is one of their staff.
“The Ministry wishes to put on record that the suspect, Benlord Ababio who is currently in police custody, is not a staff of the Ministry of National Security,” the Ministry indicated in a statement.
The Ministry further urged the public to disregard any news item that portrays the suspect as a staff of the Ministry of National Security.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has strongly condemned the killing of a soldier Lance Corporal Omar Abdullah Rahman over an alleged disputed half plot of land at Millennium City, Kasoa in the Central Region.
Confirming the tragic loss in a press release on May 1, 2024, the GAF said: “We reiterate our commitment to maintaining law and order in our communities and urge all citizens to seek peaceful and lawful means to resolve land disputes and to refrain from engaging in acts of violence to prevent such tragic incidents.”
