Jordan Ayew’s last minute dramatic winner for Ghana secured all three points as they beat Mali in Bamako on Thursday evening.

With the 1-2 victory over the Eagles, the Black Stars won their first in six games and moved up to joint-top of Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers with Comoros.

Ernest Nuamah scored for Ghana after the break to make it 1-1 before Jordan netted the winner late in added time.

Mali began the game with a strong foot chasing goal, but Lawrence Ati-Zigi made impressive saves to prevent the Eagles from scoring.

Kamory Doubia scored Mali’s first goal in added minutes after a deflected ball from Alexander Djiku.

However, Olympique Lyon’s forward, Ernest Nuamah scored a goal through Salis Abdul Samed’s brilliant cross, bringing Ghana level.

Ghana scored the second goal of the game, with Jordan’s goal, as they surged forward just minutes before full time.

This result means Ghana now has six points from three games and find themselves behind Comoros, who lead due to goal superiority.

Ghana next will face the Central African Republic on matchday four of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
