Okyeame Kwame

In a recent interview on Rhythmzlive with Blessing, Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame shed light on his evolved perspective on music creation and his approach to life. The interview offered an introspective look at the artist’s current mindset, focusing on authenticity and self-expression over competition and external validation.

During the interview, Okyeame Kwame articulated his shift away from viewing music as a competitive endeavor. “And once it goes into the realms of competing, that becomes a product,” he said. “At my level as an artist, I no longer compete at all.”

When asked about his current creative process, Okyeame Kwame emphasized the importance of originality and personal satisfaction in his work. “I just go inside my heart and create something that is original, something that is nouveau to me, something that I find exciting. Then I put it in the world. If you like it, listen; if you don’t, it’s not for you.”

The discussion also touched on Okyeame Kwame’s expectations regarding recognition and awards for his music. He revealed that he does not produce music with the anticipation of accolades. “When you produce your music, you do not expect awards or anything like that out of that?” Blessing asked. “Not at all,” Okyeame Kwame replied. “It’s not just my music. In my life, I expect very little. I want to get to a point where I expect nothing at all. I’m not there yet. But now that I expect, I expect the best and I prepare for the worst.”

Okyeame Kwame’s reflections highlight a significant departure from the conventional pressures of the music industry, emphasizing a journey towards inner peace and creative freedom. His approach serves as an inspiration to many artists seeking to prioritize personal fulfillment over external competition.
