The Aggrieved Customers of Gold Coast Fund Management are calling on President Akufo-Addo to resolve the financial sector clean-up mess before leaving office.
This comes on the back of President Akufo-Addo directing the Ministry of Finance to release GHc1.5 billion to assist customers affected by the government’s banking sector clean-up exercise.
This announcement was made by Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam during his official visit to the UK at a Town Hall meeting over the weekend.
Dr. Amin Adam stated that the President’s directive requires the disbursement to be completed between now and October.
However, the affected groups say the amount is insufficient to pay the huge number of Ghanaians affected by the banking sector clean-up exercise.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Francis Abban, the Convene of the Aggrieved Customers of Gold Coast Fund Management Mr. Charles Nyame advised the President to do all he can within his power to resolve the challenge.
“I believe that you have the power to make history as a President. I would want to advise the President to make sure that he resolves this financial clean-up exercise mess before he leaves power. Irrespective of whether they are going to lose or win power that shouldn’t be their condition.
“If not this will be an edible mark on the minds of some family members of the affected people,” Mr. Nyame stated.
He continued: “It will be compulsory for President Akufo-Addo to erase this blemish within the next six months if he wants to have a very good history as President. Otherwise, this blemish will taint whatever good things he has done during his presidency.”
