Afro-dancehall superstar Livingstone Etse Satekla, known globally as Stonebwoy, has filed a lawsuit against aspiring politician and entertainment critic Sadiq Abdulai Abu, popularly known as Baba Sadiq, for defamatory comments made on social media.

The writ, submitted to the High Court of Justice on May 31, 2024, details Stonebwoy’s demand for Baba Sadiq to delete the offending tweets and issue an unqualified apology. Additionally, the reigning Ghanaian Artist of the Year seeks GHS 3 million in damages, claiming that the tweets were made with malicious intent and aimed to defame him by spreading knowingly false statements.

The tweets in question accused Stonebwoy of being a violent female abuser, allegations that quickly went viral and sparked intense debate among fans and the wider public.

These claims sharply contrast with Stonebwoy’s well-documented advocacy for women’s rights and his involvement in numerous philanthropic initiatives supporting women.

Social media observers had voiced concerns over Stonebwoy’s initial silence on the matter, given the severity of the accusations.

The artist’s decision to pursue legal action underscores his commitment to protecting his reputation and addressing the defamatory remarks through appropriate legal channels.
