Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith has expressed his determination to redeem his reputation through a potential return to the Cook-a-thon challenge.

When asked about the possibility of attempting the feat again in an exclusive interview on GHOne TV with Serwaa Amihere, Chef Smith responded “yes”.

“If I’m given the opportunity and it’s legitimate, I can do it. To make the nation proud, to take away the shame and the reproach and the disgrace I have brought upon my country,” he added.

Chef Smith gained widespread attention earlier this year for his ambitious cooking marathon held at Amadia Shopping Centre in Spintex, Accra, which ran from February 1 to March 6, 2024. On July 2, 2024, he boldly announced that he had broken the record for the longest cooking marathon.

However, his claim was swiftly challenged by Guinness World Records (GWR), who clarified that they had not received an official application from Chef Smith. Moreover, the certificate he presented was deemed invalid by GWR, reaffirming that the official record is still held by Alan Fisher of Ireland.
