Over 400 participants have benefited from a free prostate cancer screening organized by EIB Network’s, Empire FM, and Radio 360.

As part of efforts to draw attention to the ailment, Empire FM set aside the month of June to celebrate fathers with an entire month-long awareness campaign to educate people on the risk factors of prostate cancer.

To climax the month-long campaign, a free prostate cancer screening has been organized at the Takoradi Mall.

Prostate cancer affects about 60% of black men. In Ghana, the prevalence is 200 out of every 100,000 men.
prostate cancer in Ghana is ill-defined in its late stage hence is the second biggest cause of male cancer fatalities in Ghana.
Early cancer detection is a proven measure of saving the lives of victims.

Prostate cancer affects millions of men worldwide and can lead to severe complications if left unchecked.
If cancer cells spread to distant organs, men may experience bone pain, swelling, and organ dysfunction. This can lead to a significant decrease in quality of life and even death.

The exercise undertaken by medical professionals from New Crystal Hospital, attracted hundreds of men from all walks of life who took the opportunity to have Prostate Specific Antigen test, PSA.
For some, it was a first time encounter to have their prostate status checked as they were enthused about the opportunity.

The medical experts also offered free counseling during the screening to educate the patrons on dietary and lifestyle activities that could help them stay healthy

The prostate cancer awareness is a yearly campaign organized by Empire FM and Radio 360 in Takoradi. This year’s was supported by GNPC Foundation, First National Bank, JustMax travel and tours, ChemSolv, EmbaLinks, Veros Petroleum, Takoradi Mall, GPHA, GOIL.
