Ghana’s relay team missed out on competing in the final of the 4×100 meter relays after getting disqualified despite completing the race with a sixth-placed finish with a time of 38.62 seconds.

The West African nation got disqualified on the grounds of a lane infraction that stemmed from a problematic baton change.

This marks another disappointing turn of events and comes months after a similar mistake earned Ghana a second-place spot at the 2023 African Games in Accra.

There was a similar problem at the Penn Relays, where the team dropped the baton during an exchange on Day One of the 2024 World Relays Meet.

The failure of the Relay team capped a very uninspiring performance from the Ghanaian contingent at the Paris Olympic Games as all of Ghana’s representatives were eliminated.
