Several political parties have also positioned themselves for the elections. Kofi Akpaloo’s Libra Party of Ghana (LPG) has fielded three candidates, while Dr. Hassan Ayariga’s All People’s Congress (APC) has submitted one candidate for the Suame constituency.

Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings’ National Democratic Congress (NDC) has fielded three candidates, in addition to filing candidates for all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has also fielded candidates in all 47 constituencies, setting the stage for intense competition in the region with the National Democratic Congress also filing candidates in all the 47 constituencies as well.

Competitive Election Expected
As the Ashanti Region remains a key battleground in Ghana’s elections, both major parties and independent candidates are expected to campaign aggressively.

The EC will now move forward with the vetting process ahead of what is anticipated to be one of the most highly contested parliamentary elections in the history of the region.

The 2024 parliamentary election promises to be an important indicator of political trends and voter sentiment in Ghana’s electoral landscape.

However, speaking on the Abusua FM in Kumasi with Kojo Marfo the Ashanti regional Chairman of the NDC Augustus Nana Akwasi disclosed the NPP will shock the NPP in the Ashanti region after the 7th December polls.
He said” we will shock the NPP in Ashanti region. We are going to win seats in addition to the 4 constituencies we control in their region you mark my words’’ he told Kojo Marfo.
