The demonstrators from the Democracy Hub have burnt party paraphernalia of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the 37 Roundabout in Accra.

The demonstration is geared towards pressing on the government to protect the water bodies being destroyed in the name of illegal mining also known as galamsey.

As the protesters dismantled the paraphernalia, the atmosphere buzzed with energy and defiance. The rhythmic chants of a campaign song from the ruling NPP echoed through the streets, amplifying the tension between opposing sides.

Their chants served as both a reminder of the ruling party’s presence and a call for change.

However, the Ghana Police Service has urged the motoring public to cooperate with them as they manage the huge traffic conjunction as a result of the ongoing demonstration by the Democracy Hub against the destruction of Ghana’s water bodies.

“The Ghana Police Service wishes to once again urge the motoring public to cooperate with us as we work to manage the traffic situation caused by the conduct of the Democracy Hub demonstrators.

“Our officers are deployed to handle the situation and ensure free flow of traffic.

“We thank the public for your understanding and cooperation so far”, the police added.
