The Black Stars of Ghana were held to a disappointing 1:1 draw in their second 2025 AFCON Qualifier against Niger at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco after a 44th-minute Seidu Alidu goal was cancelled out by Oumar Sako.

Otto Addo’s men began the game on a bright note and should have been ahead after an early cross in the first minute found the head of Inaki Williams, who woefully missed the target.

The first half was full of end-to-end action, with most clear-cut chances falling to the Nigerians who somewhat squandered them.

Ghana’s hardworking left-back, Alidu Seidu’s 44th-minute shot from distance after a series of unfruitful crosses on the left side, found the net when his shot from outside the box swayed pass goalkeeper Abiboulaye Hainikoye.

The Black Stars were all but set to get their hands on their first 3 points in Group F but were found wanting in the 81st minute when defender Oumar Sako pounced on a loose ball in the six-yard box from Moussa Kassa Moudou and hit the ball swiftly pass Ghanaian goalkeeper Ati Zigi.

The draw for the Black Stars means that Ghana will occupy the 3rd spot on the table with a point with Angola and Sudan at the top.

Ghana’s next game is on October 11, against Kwasi Appiah’s Sudan.
