Angry chiefs and residents of Breman Esiam in the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam District of the Central Region have expressed frustration and disappointment after their only tarred road was destroyed by the government in its bid to construct a new one for the community ahead of the upcoming elections.

Residents claim that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has left them “nothing but dust” and are issuing a stern warning, demanding restoration of their tarred road, which connects Breman Fawomanye to Ajumako through Breman Esiam.

In an interview with GHOne News’ Yaw Boagyan, residents stated that their road was in good condition until the NPP government intervened, damaging it under the pretense of constructing a new road.

The frustrated community members have threatened to vote massively against the NPP in the upcoming elections due to their dissatisfaction with the situation. They also expressed disappointment in the Chief of Breman Esiam Traditional Area, Odeefuo Afankwa, who serves on the Council of State, for his silence on the matter.

Residents report that due to the dust from the damaged road, they have had to abandon wearing white clothing. Assembly Members from the Breman Esiam Electoral Area have also voiced their demands for the road’s restoration, accusing both the contractor and the government of failing them.

The Assembly Members have vowed to mobilize their community to vote against the NPP if their demands are not met. They insist that they want the road restored before the 2024 general elections.
