The Electoral Commission (EC) is standing by its decision to disqualify twelve aspirants from the 2024 presidential contest.

The Commission believes its laid down process that cleared thirteen candidates to contest, was thorough and open.

Two weeks ago, the EC revealed the disqualifications which included the People’s National Convention (PNC) Presidential Candidate, Benard Mornah and Kofi Siaw Asamoah of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).

Both men are in court to compel the EC to add their names to the ballot.

Meanwhile, the EC Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa said the Commission remained confident in its process that led to the mass disqualifications.

“You come again to nominations as I said. It was an open process. There was fairness. Committees were set up. And there are reports that have been provided based on the committee’s work. The process is transparent.

“A few have taken us to court. And we will prove to the citizenry and the people of Ghana that the process is transparent and fair. The EC has nothing to hide and it has no intention to stop anybody’s presidential ambitions,” Mrs. Mensa said at the recent Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.
