Deputy Director of Logistics and Protocol for the opposition National Democratic Congress, Amanda Okyere has stated the governing NPP will suffer a shock at the December 7 polls just as its running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh did at the Pantang Midwifery and Nursing Training College.

The Vice-Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is seen in a viral video visibly shocked at the reception from the students who were dissatisfied with the government’s handling of their allowances.

The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia earlier this year was confronted by student’s nurses at a campus engagement over the same matter of failure by government to pay their allowances spanning over 3 years.

Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in answering the question from the student nurses said he was unaware of the development.

He subsequently ordered the finance ministry to release some monies for the payment of the allowances to which the students. However, many students are yet to receive their arrears.

Campaigning at Pantang Nursing and Midwifery Training School in Accra, the NPP running mate said it was better for government to owe allowances than it been cancelled.

But the nurses in a video captured and shared widely on social media are seen and heard expressing their disgust at the failure of the government to fulfil its promise of paying their allowances despite a much-touted campaign that it remains committed to paying the allowances.

The students in a sharp response to the position expressed by the NPP running mate shouted
‘we want allawa, we want allawa’ to the shock of the Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

Reacting to the incident on her campaign rounds in Accra, the deputy director of logistics and protocol for the opposition NDC Amanda Okyere opined that ‘’This is a video proof that reveals how Napo and Bawumia will stare and watch Ghanaians and Citizens in a state of shock amidst chaos, suffering, challenges etc when we expect a prompt and swift intervention from leadership”

The deputy director has in recent time taken on the establishment over its lackadaisical attitude towards addressing the challenges that have bedeviled the country.

In the same video shared on social media, it is captured that the student’s nurses were running for their dear lives in an alleged fire incident with the NPP running mate in a state of shock looking on.

Many wondered why Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh could not have called the fire service to the scene off the incident. The NPP running mate was at the nurses training college in the company of the national organizer of the party Henry Nana Boakye and other party big wigs.

It is unclear if the incident recorded casualties.
