Coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has confirmed Mohammed Kudus will lead the Black Stars in the Sudan game at Accra Sports Stadium.

Addressing the media ahead of the crucial AFCON qualifier with Sudan, Otto Addo revealed the West Ham man is the deputy captain of the team and as a result of the absence of Thomas Partey.

“Kudus will lead the team. I think I said it before, I don’t know, he is the second captain, and so for this reason, he will have the captaincy. And for us, I don’t know if I said it before, but it’s about leadership and responsibility”.

“It’s not about having the captaincy, it’s about all the players. And sometimes, and this will take time, I know for sure, but me having the comparison, let’s say, from Europe or Germany and Ghana, especially, I think there are a lot of things we can change. And I know traditionally, this is good off the pitch, we have a lot of respect, especially for elder players, but on the field, everybody’s equal”, he said.

The Black Stars are aiming to regain momentum in their qualifying campaign following a 0-1 defeat to Angola and 1-1 draw against Niger.

Black Stars are set to face Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, before heading to Libya for the return fixture on October 15.
