The vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has urged electorates in the Ashanti Region to vote for change in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Addressing various professionals in the Nhyiaeso Constituency on Monday as part of her Ashanti Regional campaign tour, she said even though the region has consistently been rallying behind the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the people have been taken for granted because NPP governments do not reward them with commensurate development projects.
She added that in spite of the relatively low number of votes that the NDC gets in the region, NDC governments have honoured the people in the region with almost all its major development projects, including the Kejetia Market and a modern airport.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said it is imperative that electorates in the region support the NDC and vote for change in the upcoming elections, adding that a vote for Mr. John Dramani Mahama in the December 7 presidential elections would ensure more development in the region.
Speaking on the economy, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that on the watch of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Alhaji Bawumia, the country is unable to service its debt because it is broken.
“Our country is not sitting pretty and it is everybody’s responsibility to ensure that we are tilting ourselves back. It will take a lot of effort, it will take a lot of sacrifices; it is not business as usual”, she said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang therefore urged voters to vote massively for Mr Mahama in the impending elections to bring the needed change to the country. She said policies such as the 24-Hour Economy, the Big Push, and the National Apprenticeship Programme will create jobs.
