The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2024 BECE for both School and Private Candidates.
In a report released by WAEC on October 19, they highlighted that the Council will dispatch the results of school candidates to their respective schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education.
A total number of 569,236 candidates from 19,505 schools registered for the examination this year. In addition, 1,390 private candidates took the examination.
WAEC specified in their report that they detected major examination malpractices during the exams. Following the completion of investigations into several cases of malpractices detected during the writing of the examination and marking of scripts.
As a result, the results of 377 subjects taken by the school candidate have been canceled. Again, the entire results of 33 school candidates and three private candidates have been withheld.
Meanwhile, some academic subject results of candidates from 149 schools have been withheld for reported irregularities. Furthermore, the entire results of 41 school candidates and 3 private candidates were canceled.
