Asante Kotoko’s difficult season reached yet another low point on Sunday as they lost to Bechem United 1-0 at Nana Gyeabour Park for the third straight time.

The defeat continues Kotoko’s dismal run of play, which started with consecutive defeats to Legon Cities and Heart of Lions. They are currently placed sixth in the rankings, behind rivals Hearts of Oak.

Kofi Tompuo’s outstanding effort was the cause of Bechem United’s lone goal in the 27th minute.

Tompuo dominated a pass before launching a spectacular long-range effort that sailed past Mohamed Camara, the Kotoko custodian.

However, the goal strengthened Bechem’s impressive home record against Kotoko, which has kept them undefeated at Nana Gyeabour Park since 2016.

While Kotoko held more attempts at goal with nine to Bechem’s seven, they struggled to make their chances count.

The growing difficulties in their frontline were demonstrated as Kotoko failed to muster a single shot on goal to put Bechem’s defence in jeopardy despite their increased pressure.

Kotoko next will face Nations FC in a vital local derby, and if their bad play continues, Prosper Ogum’s job may be in peril.

Bechem United, currently ranked ninth in the table, will look to capitalize on their recent success before facing Berekum Chelsea in their upcoming match.

Kotoko on the other hand, must find a way to reverse their fortunes to keep their campaign on track.
