Former Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ofori Agyeman Boadu says the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye’s allegation that the NDC has plans to rig the upcoming elections is ‘very silly’.
Henry Nana Boakye during a counter-press conference at the party’s headquarters, accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of recruiting thugs to disrupt the upcoming December elections.
According to him, the NDC has been training thugs in various communities, including Obuasi East constituency, under the guise of private security training.
Speaking on the Morning Starr with Lily Mohammed, Mr. Agyemang Boadu described the claims as silly and questioned the logic behind the accusations.
“I’ll say his allegation is very silly. Who in his right frame of mind would do a security meeting and have media men cover it?”, he noted.
He further explained that the training was part of an ongoing effort to engage stakeholders in the mining sector and promote the decentralization program proposed by President Mahama.
“We have a mining team that has been going around engaging stakeholders, selling the decentralization program that President Mahama intends to bring into the mining sector, just so we’ll be able to curb incidents of the destruction of our water bodies and the environment.” He asserted.
“We have been going around to mining communities, engaging stakeholders on innovative measures that, when we are given the mandate to rule this country, will ensure Ghana gets optimum value for its gold without destroying the environment,” he said. He added.
He dismissed the allegations as baseless and reiterated the party’s commitment to promoting sustainable mining practices and economic development in Ghana.
