The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama says a vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate is an endorsement of continued economic hardship.
Speaking during a community engagement in Enchi in the Aowin constituency to kick start his campaign tour of the Western North Region, Mr. Mahama claimed that supporting Bawumia would signify backing poor governance, highlighting economic challenges under Bawumia’s tenure as Vice President.
“A vote for the Bawumia means you are happy with the mismanagement of our finances, our increased debt stock, and the current sufferings. And so if you are displeased with what is happening you’ll have to vote them out of office,” former President Mahama said.
He jested that the elephant which is the emblem of the governing New Patriotic Party, belonged in the forests and not in town where people reside.
Former President Mahama reiterated the notion that the state of the economy was tough for Ghanaians including businesspersons who were experiencing sluggish growth in the business.
