Ghana coach Otto Addo has named a 25-man squad for the decisive AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The squad includes key players from Europe’s top leagues but notably excludes captain Thomas Partey, despite his strong performances for Arsenal. Addo’s decision to drop Partey has sparked speculation, especially as Partey had declared his availability following his absence in the October double-header against Sudan.
Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu will also miss the two games due to a hamstring injury sustained in last month’s 2-0 loss to Sudan.
However, Nathaniel Adjei returns to the Black Stars squad after recovering from an injury that previously kept him out of action.
English Premier League stars Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Fatawu Issahaku are expected to play crucial roles in Ghana’s bid for AFCON qualification.
Ibrahim Osman and Joseph Paintsil also make their return to the national team after both missed the Sudan games due to injuries.
The squad includes Razak Simpsom from Nations FC, Isaac Afful from Samartex, and Emmanuel Antwi from Asante Kotoko.
Ghana faces a high-stakes challenge in these final qualifiers, needing victories and hoping for slip-ups from Sudan to secure a place in the tournament.
