The Deputy Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale has criticized the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the country’s deteriorating economy as the 2024 election approaches.

Ghana’s economy, defined by the World Bank in 2019 as the world’s fastest-growing economy, has reduced. Factors of the reduction include high levels of government debt, inflation, and energy costs, low agricultural productivity, and regional trade inefficiencies.

As Ghana has a complex economic landscape, experts warn that many citizens will continue to suffer the consequences. The ongoing struggles of vulnerable populations have been highlighted alongside macroeconomic indicators suggesting recovery, but the reality for many remains terrible.

In an interview on State of Affairs with Lantam Papanko, on Monday, Mr. Basintale disclosed that many Ghanaians could have been in crisis if not for MTN Quickloan.

“The saviour of the youth under this corrupt Bawumia, Nana Addo government is MTN Quickloan” the deputy communication officer stated.

He further asserted that due to the economic crisis under the incumbent government, 80% of Ghanaians owe MTN Quickloan.

“And today for the first time, anytime you intend to send somebody mobile money, they would tell you not this number, I will send you another number, when you ask why, I’m owing MTN mobile money. 80% Ghanaians are owing MoMo (Mobile Money) that is the state of the economy”, he said.
