2028 Elections: Akufo-Addo, Ntim must publicly apologize to restore NPP’s credibility — Kankam Boadu

NPP National Chairman aspirant David Kankam Boadu has urged former President Akufo-Addo and Chairman Stephen Ntim to apologize to Ghanaians for leadership failures, warning the party risks losing public trust ahead of 2028.

National Chairman aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Kankam Boadu, has urged former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the party’s National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, to publicly apologize to Ghanaians for what he describes as leadership shortcomings that have eroded public trust.

In an interview on Starr Today with Tutuwaa Danso, Mr. Boadu argued that such an apology is essential if the NPP is to restore credibility and reposition itself ahead of the 2028 general elections.

“President Akufo-Addo and Chairman Stephen Ntim should come forward and offer an apology to party members and to Ghanaians. This simple act will go a long way in restoring hope and unity within the party,” he said.

He noted that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong had already apologized for the party’s failings, insisting that other key leaders must follow suit to demonstrate accountability.

Mr. Boadu warned that arrogance and denial could push the NPP toward political decline.

“We must be humble enough to admit that the party is at a tipping point. If we’re not careful, we risk going the way of the CPP. Ghanaians are watching, and an apology is not weakness — it’s maturity and leadership,” he added.

The outspoken aspirant, who has consistently called for internal reforms, stressed that reconnecting with the grassroots and prioritizing humility, unity, and transparency are critical for the NPP’s survival.

His comments come as both the ruling NPP and opposition NDC begin early positioning for the 2028 election cycle.
