Ellembelle Dce rejects claims of wastage by NPP constituency execs

The District Chief Executive of the Ellembelle Kwasi Bonzoh is debunking allegations by some executives of the New Patriotic Party in the Constituency that he is wasting resources by not staying in his official bungalow.

Speaking exclusively to Starrfm.com.gh in Ellembelle, Kwasi Bonzoh said it would have costed the Assembly and the state 140,000 cedis to renovate the bungalow before he moves in ; but in order to save the assembly and the state all that cost and as well as provide accomodation for 7 top officials of the assembly, he decided to live in his own bungalow at Esiama at no cost to the state or the assembly.

“…assembly has not paid anything ,if anybody claims that he has seen a single claim from me to the effect of rent… the only thing assembly pays at my Esiama residence is the electricity bill … since this issue started coming up… , at one point I had wanted to eject the officials of the assembly staying there but at a management meeting they asked where they will put up, there is no decent accommodation in Nkroful for them as you cannot find accomodation less than 300 cedis a month and how will the assembly pay close to 3, 000 cedis a month…and if my own people are doing this to me for saving the assembly that much money , then it is unfortunate,” the Ellembelle DCE said.

He noted the Constituency Chairman, Samuel Akainyah and his group have been opposed to him being the DCE and as a result have been alleging he has been giving assembly contracts to members of the minority NDC.

He challenged them to prove that despite he asking the NPP executives to nominate a qualified contractor for one of the available contracts, the chairman insisted he wanted 2 more which was not heeded to.
The first vice chairman of the NPP in Ellembelle Sampson Ndoli also known as One Day , said the earlier press statement making allegations of wastage against the Ellembelle DCE has not been endorsed by all the Constituency executives of the NPP in Ellembelle and can only be coming from a disgruntled few.

Speaking during a press conference at Ellembelle, the first vice chairman said the constituency chairman has never hidden his dislike for the DCE both publicly and privately as he refuses to honour several invitations extended by the Assembly to key national events like Farmers’ Day , Independence Day , commissioning of projects and others , just to spite the DCE.

On Monday , April 1, 2019 a press statement signed by some section of the Ellembelle Constituency Executives of the NPP alleged that the DCE since his appointment in 2017, has been lodging in a rented apartment in Takoradi (about 75 KM to the district capital) at the expense of the assembly neglecting official bungalow which had been occupied by previous district chief executives of the area. A whopping amount of money was spent to renovate this official residence immediately he resumed office.
