The Black Stars will play El Tri of Mexico in an international friendly on June 28, Ghana Football Association has confirmed.
Set for Houston’s NRG Stadium in Texas, USA, the match will be the third ever meeting between the two sides.
“The Black Stars have lined up an international friendly against Mexico to be played on June 28 at Houston’s NRG Stadium in Texas, USA,” a publication on Ghana FA official website read.
“The Federación Mexicana de Futbol (FMF), Soccer United Marketing (SUM), Lone Star Sports & Entertainment and the Houston Dynamo today announced that Mexico will play Ghana on Wednesday, June 28 (7:30 p.m. CT), at Houston’s NRG Stadium, presented by AT&T.
“The game is part of the landmark 15th annual Mexican National Team U.S. Tour, which kicked off on Feb. 8 in Las Vegas in a 1-0 win against Iceland in front of a record breaking audience for soccer in the city.”
Ghana first faced Mexico in 2006, where Guillermo Franco’s solitary goal gave the latter a 1-0 win in a game played at the FC Dallas’ Toyota Stadium in the USA.
The Black Stars had the chance to make amends two years later in England but Pavel Pardo’s second half penalty secured El Tri a 2-1 victory.
