The agriculture sector is expected to experience a boom in productivity aimed at boosting Ghana’s economy.
Players in the sector converged at the just ended Sustainable Farming Conference 2017 to exchange and share ideas as well as network to enhance the agriculture industry.
The participants were taken through a series of capacity building exercises to identify their field of interest; production, transportation, storage, packaging, distribution, marketing among others.
The conference provided remedies to some of the major challenges facing the Agric sector in the country. These include: access to funds, absence of credible business partners, the increasing gab between industry and academia and the motivation to start an Agric business.
These experts included Dr. Kwesi Opoku-Debrah, vice President at Clean Seed Capital Limited, Mr. Kodwo Osei-Sarfo, Agro Business Consultant, Mr. Jenny Agyapong, Deputy Chief Executive (HEAD) Agribusiness Unit MoFA, Mr. Alistair Djebatey, Manager at Blue Sky Foundation and Mr. Ekow Kofie, Consultant at Inclusive Agribusiness Centre.
The conference which was held at the University of Ghana also witnessed an Agric Fair from 19 exhibitors.
The Sustainable Farming Conference 2017 and Agric Fair was organized by KGA Farm Estate with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Korsell Corporate Consult, the International Association of Agricultural Students (IAAS) and Inclusive Agri-Business Centre (IAC).
