Young Muslim girls have been advised to use social media wisely in order to gain positive benefits.

The girls were told this when the Muslimah Mentorship Network (MMN) over the weekend visited Firdaws Islamic school at Madina, Accra to educate students about the use of social media and how to hold on to one’s Muslim identity.

Dr. Mariam Khaleem-Ahmed, the first speaker at the program said it is okay for young girls to own social media accounts provided they have the right guidance and hold on to their Muslim identity.

She advised the students to set goals to guide them to become responsible adults. “Make your faith your priority,” she added.

The second speaker, Ms Zarina Amandi also advised the young students to remember who they are and not to follow negative social trends.

The mentors present had a one-on-one interaction with the students where the students voiced out their problems and were given the right advice to help solve their problems.

Proprietress of the school, Salma Tahir was pleased about the mentoring program and asked MMN to visit the school more often to help the girls learn and build their confidence.

She also encouraged MMN to organize training programs to help young Muslim girls improve upon their confidence as most of her students had low self esteem.

Muslimah Mentorship Network (MMN) is a group of young Muslim women who mentor girls in Muslim communities to grow and contribute positively to the growth and development of Ghana.
