The Church of Pentecost has established a groundbreaking initiative – the “Ministry to Celebrities” to extend the message of God’s love to public figures who often feel judged and unwelcome in traditional congregations.

The announcement was made during the Global Ministers and Wives Conference held at the Pentecost Convention Center in Gomoa Fetteh.

Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, affirmed that the Ministry to Celebrities would provide an opportunity for public figures to embrace Christianity and find salvation.

The launch of this ministry marks a progressive step towards inclusivity and cultural relevance in the Church’s mission, recognizing the need to extend the message of salvation to all, regardless of societal status or public perception.

Some celebrities in Ghana in previous media interviews cited instances where their appearances led to unfair judgments from churchgoers, discouraging them from attending religious services.

Pastor Michael Laryea who provided details of the Ministry in a presentation stated that, the newly formed ministry aims to bridge this gap by actively reaching out to individuals in the entertainment industry, including musicians, actors, social media influencers, TV and radio presenters, DJs, footballers, news bloggers,as well as politicians, and business moguls.

Pastor Laryea emphasized that these celebrities, often neglected in traditional gospel outreach, would be ministered to without judgment.

The Church of Pentecost acknowledges that societal prejudices against celebrities, characterized by their status, extravagant lifestyles, and sometimes involvement in perceived vices, have hindered many churches from embracing them.

The negative influences stemming from this neglect, both on the celebrities’ followers and society at large, have prompted the establishment of the Ministry to Celebrities.

The Church believes that bringing them to Christ will save their souls and similarly use their influences to save many others.

Pastor Laryea explained that the initiative aligns with the Church’s vision to be a globally relevant Pentecostal institution engaged in vibrant evangelism, church planting, and discipleship.
