The government has announced a new recruitment drive for security services, emphasizing that the process will be transparent and free of charge. This announcement was made following a closed-door meeting between the Interior Minister and key parliamentary leaders.
“The ordinary man on the street will have access to it. We want to reiterate and emphasize that no fees will be charged,”No fees will be charged.”
The interior Minister Henry Kotey himself announced that the recruitment process, aimed at those who applied between 2021 and 2022 but have not yet been successful, will be open and fair. “Anybody who applies for that opportunity will see that it’s handled fairly, for the public to appreciate that we are here to work for them, for Ghanaians.”
Interior Minister Henry Kotey clarified that while the application process itself is free, applicants will still need to cover their medical examination costs. He said “For the purposes of filling the application online, it is completely free, the medicals are not free because that is not controlled by the security and intelligence agencies and the government .”
The Interior Minister Kote also emphasized that the Ministry of Interior does not control the recruitment directly. “At the appropriate time, the responsible agencies under Interior will advertise and indicate the eligibility criteria and the timetable.”
He added that this decentralized approach is designed to make the process more accessible. “We don’t want somebody to travel all the way from another region to Accra. Once you do it in your regional capitals, it is fair.”
Dr. Kotey stated, “This is what democracy is abouts, is about coming together to agree and and coming together to disagree, in the interests of Ghana and motherland.”
