The Cadres Network has applauded the leadership of opposition National Democratic Congress for organizing the recently held nationwide demonstration which was aimed at calling for an audit of the voters’ register.

The “peaceful” demonstration, the group noted, demonstrated the party’s “commitment to upholding the peace of our nation and protecting our democracy”.

Touting the NDC as an example, the Cadres Network urged other political parties to resort to peaceful means when calling for reforms in our democratic dispensation.

“We also encourage the leadership of other political parties to emulate the NDC in their future endeavors,” the group’s press statement read. “The peace and democracy we have enjoyed over the years should not be taken for granted, and it is the responsibility of all political actors to safeguard these pillars of our society.”

Earlier this week, the National Democratic Congress’ leadership, supporters and sympathizers took to the streets to demand an audit of the 2024 electoral register citing clear and obvious errors in the document.

The Electoral Commission in response to the petition presented by the NDC at the end of the demonstration pledged to deliver a credible and robust voters’ register.

The statement which was signed by the Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Nettey disclosed that “the process of producing the Final Register is in its early stages”.
