Ebi Bright, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Tema Central, has expressed dissatisfaction with President Akufo-Addo’s efforts in the creative arts sector. Speaking on Starr Today with Efia Tutuwaa Danso and Joshua Kodjo Mensah, madam Bright gave the president’s achievements a low rating of 2 out of 10.

“I think it’s disappointing because it’s all staged,” she remarked, referencing initiatives like the Year of Return. “He’s done a year of return, but this has nothing to do with you and I. We must be patrons of our tourism festivals absolutely from January to November and after. It’s not just December.”

Her comments suggest that while the Year of Return brought international attention, it failed to foster sustainable engagement with local tourism and creative industries throughout the year. Bright emphasized the need for continuous support for the sector, beyond high-profile events concentrated in the holiday season.

The creative arts industry has often been a point of debate, with stakeholders expressing both praise and concerns over the level of investment and development under the current administration.
